There
is no question that the big winners from last week were George W. Bush and Dick
Cheney, two men vilified for years by the left, the media, and Barack Obama as
eager to use the War on Terror as an excuse to violate the Constitutional
rights of everyday Americans. Obama ran for president as the anti-Bush in many
respects, but especially on the issue of surveillance and snooping.
Well, we now know -- no thanks to
the American mainstream media -- that Obama's hypocrisy on this
issue is as vast and wide as the dragnet he is using to snoop into our
computers and phone calls (and those of the media during those rare times they
don't play White House stenographer). Moreover, Obama not only embraced his
predecessors anti-terror surveillance policies; he has gone a step further in
declaring the War on Terror pretty much over, even as he expands on those
policies.
